The Royal Wedding: The Industry’s Take
It has been fun to hear what our industry friends have to say about the royal wedding. We reached out to a few bridal designers and style experts to find out what they thought about the Middleton girls.
On Kate:
“Kate was perfect! Her dress was such a great mix of modern classic and history. The lace reminded me of Princess Grace of Monaco. I don’t think any other designer could have been better than Sarah Burton.” –Suzy Menkes, fashion reporter/style expert
“There was nothing to not like about Kate’s dress, but as a designer, I was a little disappointed not to see something that pushed the fashion envelope further. I found the choice of materials and shape to be very traditional and not what I was expecting from such a modern bride and a very modern designer as Sarah Burton is. None the less, Kate looked beautiful and the fit of the dress was impeccable.” –Lela Rose
“Kate Middleton looked stunning, regal and confident. I feel that she followed her own sense of style, yet with a nod to tradition and formality. I especially loved the very, very subtle couture details used on the skirt. The bustle was exquisite. I think Kate was perfection!” –Mark Ingram
“Kate has redefined royal style for the modern bride. An elegant ivory ball gown with a touch of lace along with natural make-up and hair will be what every bride wears now.” –Reem Acra
“Kate’s dress ranks up there with Grace Kelly’s. It fit better than any dress I have seen.” –Randy Fenoli of Kleinfeld Bridal and TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress
On Pippa:
“Pippa’s dress was simplicity at its finest. The cowl neckline was stunning and the dress was elegant and a gorgeous fit.” –Lela Rose
“Pippa was so so chic in that crepe mermaid gown. I adored the cap sleeves and subtle lace trim at the neckline. I felt her gown was also suitable to be worn as a wedding dress, and a look that I would love for my atelier!” –Mark Ingram
